Admirals Burnt by Flames 3-1
December 13, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI--In an almost identical game to their last, the Ads fell behind early, tied the game late in the second, before giving up the lead early in the third as they fell to the Adirondack Flames 3-1 on Friday night at the BMOHBC.
The loss was the seventh straight for Milwaukee and the fifth in a row at home, both firsts since joining the AHL back in 2003.
After a scoreless first period the Flames leading scorer Ben Hanowski put them up 1-0 with a power-play marker at 9:24 of the second.
It looked like it would go that way into the third period, but some hard work by the Ads in front of the Adirondack net helped them level the score with just 1:31 left in the frame.
Felix Girard found a loose puck directly in front of Flames goalie Joni Ortio and took a shot that Ortio saved. However the puck bounced over to where Joe Pendenza was stationed and after a couple of whacks he managed to chip one over Ortio shoulder for his fourth goal of the game.
However, the Flames went back on top when Turner Elson redirected a shot from the right point by defenseman Corey Potter just 2:25 into the third that ended up being the game-winner.
Elson scored an insurance goal with 3:03 to play to end the scoring on the night.
The Admirals hit the road for a four-game road trip beginning Tuesday in Cleveland against the Lake Erie Monsters. Milwaukee doesn't return home to the BMOHBC until Friday, December 26th when they host the Chicago Wolves at 7 pm.
