
Sens Stumble in Hershey 5-2

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators fell 5-2 to its host the Hershey Bears in a heated matchup where the divisional foes combined for 114 penalty minutes. Chris Conner led the Bears with a goal and three assists while the B-Sens managed just 20 shots on goal through 60 minutes of play.
Hershey opened the scoring 6:03 into the first period when Chris Brown beat Binghamton's Andrew Hammond for his sixth goal of the season. Philippe Cornet made it 2-0 at 7:28 to give the Bears a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. The B-Sens were held to just three shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes of play.
Binghamton cut Hershey's lead to 2-1 just shy of the eight-minute mark of the second on the power play when Derek Grant redirected a centering feed from Shane Prince past Pheonix Copley for his eighth of the year. Hershey responded less than one minute later with a power-play goal of its own from Stanislav Galiev before Tim Kennedy restored the two-goal Bears advantage at 9:58 of the second.
Derek Grant notched his second of the night just over one minute into the third period to cut the Bears lead to two, but Conner converted on the empty net with 60 seconds remaining in regulation to push the final to 5-2 Hershey.
Hammond allowed four goals on 31 shots faced while Copley earned the victory stopping 18 of 20. Derek Grant led Binghamton offensively with two goals while five different Bears' skaters recorded a multi-point game.
The B-Sens are back in action Wednesday, December 17, when they visit Lehigh Valley for a 7:05p.m. puck drop versus the Phantoms.
