Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, VA. - Greenville Swamp Rabbits goaltender Brandon Halverson made 27 saves in net to lead his team to a 2-0 shutout win over the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday.

The Admirals looked strong in the opening moments, jumping out to an early 6-0 lead in shots, but were unable to convert on their chances. The game would remain scoreless after 20-minutes of play thanks to Halverson, who was just getting started.

The Swamp Rabbits would take the lead 4:50 into the second period courtesy of a power-play goal from Brandon Alderson, his first goal of the season coming with helpers from Angelo Micelli and Allen McPherson. Later, at the 8:52 mark of the second, Troy Donnay stormed past defenders and into the Admirals zone, dished the puck to Matt Johnson, who then delivered it to Trevor Gerling, the man who would waste no time in putting past Admirals goaltender Connor Knapp to give the Swamp Rabbits a 2-0 lead.

The Admirals would try to break the shutout late in the third period but couldn't get anything past Halverson as the Swamp Rabbits escaped with 2-0 win. This is the second straight game the Admirals were shutout and are still seeking their first victory of the season.

The Admirals will travel to Elmira to take on the Jackals Friday night at 7:05 pm ET for the first of a weekend series. Both games can be watched on ECHL.TV and heard on 102.1 FM The Tide. Following the two games the team will return to Scope to host the Toledo Walleye for a set on October 28 and 29. Tickets are available now at Ticketmaster.com and at the Scope box office.
