Spokane Indians News Release
Spokane, WA -Trailing 7-3 after eight and half innings, the Indians looked in danger of falling farther back in the competitive Northwest League Eastern Division. Instead, Spokane flipped the script, scoring five runs in the 9th inning and defeating Boise 8-7 on a walk-off single from Trever Adams in front of 3,273 at Avista Stadium.
Adams' line-drive single up the middle capped of a wild final inning that included three walks, two wild pitches, and one hit batter. Drew Robinson started the rally with a leadoff walk, which was followed by a Jorge Alfaro single and a Ruben Sierra walk to load the bases.
Boise closer Bryce Shafer (1-2) then hit second baseman Rougned Odor to force in a run. Alfaro scored on the second wild pitch of the inning, and after a Zach Cone walk, Brett Nicholas' two-run single to rightfield tied the game and set up Adams' dramatic final at-bat.
Carlos Melo (1-0) picked up the win with a scoreless ninth, and Andres Perez-Lobo allowed just one unearned run in four innings of work, setting the stage for the Indians amazing comeback.
The win moved Spokane into a first place tie with Tri-City in the NWL East with seven games remaining in the season's first half.
