Adams' Bat Too Much for Hawks

BOISE, Idaho - Trever Adams went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI, helping the Spokane Indians to an 8-2 victory over the Boise Hawks at Memorial Stadium in the Northwest League first half finale.

The Creighton product doubled home Hanser Alberto to give the Indians a 1-0 lead in the first, then launched his first professional homer leading off the third to push the margin to 2-0.

After Paul Hoilman's two-run homer got the Hawks within 3-2 in the fourth, Spokane tallied three runs in the fifth, keyed by a Jorge Alfaro double, to put the game away. Indians hurlers retired 14 Boise batters' at one stretch, until a Rafael Lopez single with one out in the ninth.

Santo Perez tossed six innings of four hit ball to pick up his fifth win of the year, with Edwin Garcia adding two hits for the Indians, who finish the first half at 20-18.

Boise pitchers tied a season high with 10 walks in the loss, though the four hurlers struck out 12 Spokane batters.

Game 3 of the series is tomorrow night at 7:15 p.m., with Austin Reed meeting Will Lamb.

NOTES - Hoilman's homer was his ninth of the year - the most since Kyler Burke hit 10 homers for the Hawks in 2007...Boise finished the first half 17-21.
