LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that center Adam Edinger has agreed to terms for the 2006-2007 season. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6' 3", 230-pound native of Toledo, OH played last season in the UHL with Motor City and scored 51 goals in 73 games and 87 penalty minutes. Edinger ranked 3rd in goals scored (51), 3rd in power-play goals (19), and 5th in shooting percentage (.228) in the UHL last season, and was named to the All Star Team in his first season in the UHL.
In 228 ECHL games, with Trenton, New Orleans, Toledo and Peoria, he has averaged over one point per game while recording 111 goals, 147 assists and 197 penalty minutes. Edinger has scored 30 goals in a season twice in the ECHL with Trenton and New Orleans. Adam has also appeared in 67 AHL games with Hershey and Cincinnati and recorded 16 points. He was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the 5th round of the 1997 NHL Draft. Before turning pro, Adam played college hockey at Bowling Green University.
"Adam had a tremendous year last season for Motor City," said Managing Partner/Owner Steven Bash. "The Ice Dogs were very aggressive to obtain Edinger for the upcoming season. He is a complete hockey player that does it all. I could not be more pleased with our first three signings (Kim, Hurtubise, and Edinger)."
"I am very pleased to have one of the top rated veteran players to sign here in Long Beach," said Head Coach and General Manager Rick Adduono. "Adam has great size and strength, and works hard in both zones. Adam has improved immensely over the last three years and will be a huge asset to the Ice Dogs for the upcoming season."
"I can't wait to play hockey in Southern California," said Edinger. "I'm looking forward to playing for Coach Rick and I am very excited to be reunited with Kimmer (Alex Kim). Ice Dog fans can expect me to battle in the corners, camp out in front of the net and bang home some rebounds."
Opening night is Friday, October 20th, versus the Idaho Steelheads at 7:30 PM. Season tickets for the 2006-07 season are on sale now, and can be secured by depositing just $100 per seat. Call (562) ICE-DOGS for visit www.icedogs.com for more information.
