
Storm Signs Richard Colwill

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings, announced today that they have signed forward Richard Colwill for the 2006-2007 season.
"Colwill has the potential to be a very interesting player for us," said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Nick Vitucci. "He has performed very well in the past and could make the transition to professional hockey easily."
The right-winger joins the Storm after playing three years in Canadian Interuniversity Sport with the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks. While playing collegiate hockey, Colwill earned some impressive accolades including receiving team MVP honors in 2003-04, Team rookie of the year in 2002-03 and was named an OUA All-Star in 2002. The Arthur, Ontario native posted 87 points (43 G, 44 A) in 80 games during his days at Wilfrid Laurier. Prior to playing with the Golden Hawks, Colwill skated two seasons with the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL, where he posted a career total 23 goals and added 29 assists.
The 16th season on Toledo Storm Hockey debuts on October 20th with the home
opener against the Dayton Bombers at 7:35pm at the Toledo Sports Arena.
