(Vancouver) The accolades continue to roll in for linebacker Adam Bighill as the hard-hitting linebacker was today named the CFL Defensive player of the Month for September.

In four games last month, three of which ended in victory for the second-place BC Lions, Bighill was a dominant force from his linebacker position. Racking up 29 defensive tackles plus five more on special teams to go along with an interception, three sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble return for a TD, Bighill certainly had a September to remember.

Today's announcement comes just one day after Bighill claimed Defensive Player of the Week honours for the second time in three weeks. Playing some of his best football when it matters most, the third-year Leo out of Central Washington is currently making a case to be considered the Outstanding Defensive Player in the West Division this year.

Led by outstanding defensive efforts in recent weeks, the Lions secured a playoff berth for the 17th consecutive season following a 53-17 win over Winnipeg last Friday and have moved to within striking distance of the first-place Calgary Stampeders. The Lions now face the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a key divisional matchup on Friday night at BC Place.

The next BC Lions home game is Friday, October 4 versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders at 7:00 pm presented by Budweiser. Tickets in the Gemstone Gridiron Deck ($30) and Freshslice Family Zone ($25) are available at ticketmaster.ca.
