ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Mike Scott scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, and linemate Scott Gomez contributed two assists as Alaska evened its record at 2-2 with a 4-1 win over San Diego before another sell-out crowd of 6,336 Saturday night at Sullivan Arena.

The Aces opened the scoring at 9:50 of the first period as Mike Lee backhanded a rebound past Gulls netminder Mathieu Chouinard, who had turned back the initial shot by Jordan Cameron. Exactly one minute later, San Diego (1-2-1) took advantage of a defensive zone turnover by Alaska and tied the game on a laser by Billy Tibbetts that beat goaltender Peter Aubry top shelf.

With the teams skating four-on-four in the second period, the Aces scored off the rush as Chouinard gave up another rebound to Scott, who easily tapped in the go-ahead goal for a 2-1 Alaska lead at 5:56. In another four-on-four situation, Ryan Bast blasted home a slapshot from the left circle with 1:27 left in the frame. Shortly thereafter, Tibbetts had another crack at Aubry, this time on a breakaway, but the Aces netminder stopped the backhand attempt and cruised to his second straight win from there, finishing with 25 saves as Alaska enjoyed a slim edge in shots on goal, 29-26.

Gomez sprung Scott loose for the goal that sealed the victory late in the third period, chipping the puck up the right wing boards and allowing Scott to coast in on a two-on-one with Chris Minard. Scott faked the pass and snapped a wrist shot past Chouinard from the right circle to account for the final margin with 2:13 left to play.
