Aces Walk-Off with Win

Alexandria, LA Friday July 27, 2007- Luis Guance's walk off double gave the Aces a come from behind victory over the Laredo Broncos by the score of 8-7 in front of 2,077 fans at Bringhurst Field.

Guance was 4-for-6 on the night with two stolen bases and and the walk off rbi. Selwyn Langaigne got the rally going in the bottom of the tenth inning, with a one out hit by pitch from Broncos reliever Kyle Gibson. Josh Tranum flied put to right to make it two outs in the inning. Palmer Karr got a high bouncing single over the head of Laredo third baseman Ivan Reyes to put runners at second and first for Guance. Guance sent a 1-0 pitch from Gibson (1-2) deep to center field to give the Aces the win.

The Aces had a 5-1 to lead going into the sixth inning, and Aces starter Buddy Bengel was throwing well. Then a solo home run from Randy Rosa, a single from Chris Judkins, and a walk to Pedro Lopez sent Bengel from the game. Charlie Foster came in with the bases loaded and no one out, and got a double play from Juan Lebron and a pop out from Edgard Clemente to to end the threat and leave the score at 5-3.

Juan Carlos Ovalles worked the eighth and allowed two runs on three hits while striking out two, but allowed the Broncos to take a 7-6 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning. Selwyn Langaigne came up big once again with a two out rbi single to right field off of Henry Lozado to to score Evan Cherry and tie the game at 7-7.

Evan Cherry was 3-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the 15 attack for the Aces. Richard Paz was 2-for-5 with a run scored and a run batted in. Josh Tranum hit a monsterous blast to deep right center field in the fifth inning off of Bronco starter Brian Daly.Tranum was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs batted in as well. Plamer Karr added a multiple hit game, as well as Eddie Fitzpatrick who was 2-for-4.

Justin Dowdy worked the final 2.0 innings in near perfect fashion. Dowdy (2-3) got the win, working the ninth and tenth striking out five, while walking just one, Juan Lebron, the only batter he allowed to reach.

Edgard Clemente, Randy Rosa, and Juan Lebron all deep in the losing effort for Laredo. with the loss the Broncos drop to 30-43 overall and 10-14 in the second half.

With the win the Aces improve to 46-27 overaal and 19-5 in the second half, both league bests.
