Las Vegas - The 2022 WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces (3-0, 3-0) close out the weekend with a home game against the Minnesota Lynx (0-3, 0-1) tonight at 6 pm PT. The game will be broadcast on Silver State Sports & Entertainment Network.
Las Vegas, which features five Olympic gold medalists in its starting lineup, is leading the league in scoring (97.3 ppg.), rebounding (41.7 rpg.), blocks (7.3 bpg.), steals (10.0 spg.), field goal percentage (.509), 3-pointers made (30, tie) and 3-point field goal percentage (.411), and ranks second in assists (21.7 apg.).
Jackie Young is averaging 23.0 ppg., which currently ranks fourth among league leaders. A'ja Wilson's 18.3 ppg. ranks eighth and Kelsey Plum's 17.0 ppg. is 13th. Wilson, who is averaging a double-double with 10.7 rpg., currently lists as the league's second-leading rebounder; while Chelsea Gray is ranked tied for second in assists at 7.0 apg., and is the Aces fourth player scoring in double digits (12.7 ppg.).
Minnesota, in contrast, averaged 74.7 ppg., 32.7 rpg. and 18.7 apg., and shot 39.5% from the floor overall and 24.2% from 3-point range in its first three games. Minnesota is led in scoring by 2020 Olympic gold medalist Napheesa Collier, who played in just four games in 2022 after giving birth in May. She is scoring at a clip of 15 ppg. to go with 5.7 rpg. and 3.7 apg. Three other Lynx players have put up an average of 10 points a game-Kayla McBride, Diamond Miller and Aerial Powers.
Last time out: One of the bright spots last year for the Lynx, which finished the 2022 season with a 14-22 record, was a 102-71 win over the Aces on July 3. Kelsey Plum scored a team-high 12 points and A'ja Wilson and Jackie Young chipped in 10 apiece. Aerial Powers powered the Lynx with 32 points on 10-of-17 from the field.
The Lynx opened with a 13-0 run, jumped to a 33-15 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play and remained in the lead throughout the game.
The Lynx finished the game shooting 50% from the field and held the Aces to 36.8%.
