Alaska Aces News Release
ANCHORAGE, Alaska. â The Anchorage Aces have signed forward Kevin McNeill to a contract for the remainder of the 2002-03 season.
The six-foot, 190-pound McNeill played four years at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks between 1996-2000. In 137 career games for the Nanooks, he earned a reputation as a solid, two-way player while scoring 20 goals and adding 23 assists. McNeill, a British Columbia native who turned 27 in May, enjoyed his most productive campaign as a sophomore at UAF, scoring nine goals and assisting on five others in 32 games. He will be making his North American professional debut and therefore will be listed as a rookie under West Coast Hockey League guidelines.
"Kevin comes highly recommended by his coaches at UAF and we're looking for more grit up front," said Anchorage head coach Rod Davidson. "He's defensively accountable and versatile in that he can play all three forward positions."
The Aces (2-9) scored a season-high four goals in a 4-3 decision over Fresno Monday night that ended their seven-game losing streak. Due to a quirk in the WCHL schedule, Anchorage will have waited 11 days before returning to the ice Friday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m. as the San Diego Gulls (5-4-1 heading into Saturday's home game vs. Idaho) invade Sullivan Arena for the first of a three-game series that continues Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
For ticket information, please call 258-ACES. All games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.anchorageaces.com or www.kfqd.com with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
