Aces Receive Polacek from Peoria

The Alaska Aces have received forward Chase Polacek (poh-LAH-check) on assignment from the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Wednesday. Polacek is a rookie who joins the team immediately, and is expected to make his Aces and ECHL debut on Friday night in Utah. The Aces head on the road for the first time this weekend when they visit the Utah Grizzlies on Friday and Saturday night. Polacek, 22, is in his first pro season after a stellar collegiate career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In his four years combined, Polacek had 160 points (65g, 95a) in 154 games. Last year as a senior, the 5'8", 190 lbs. Edina, MN native had 48 points (21g, 27a) in 38 games, leading the club in goals, points, power play goals (11), and shorthanded goals (4). He led the nation with nine game-winning goals. He was recognized as the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, and a Hobey Baker Top Ten Finalists in both his junior and senior years. Additionally, last season he was named a Lowe's Senior Class Award Finalist. Polacek was voted R.P.I.'s MVP in his sophomore season, and the school's Male Freshman Athlete of the Year in his first season there.

Last year he made his pro debut with Peoria, appearing in two regular season games, and two playoff games as an amateur. This season he has appeared in one game for the Rivermen before being assigned to Alaska.

The 2011 Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces will head on the road for the first time this weekend when they visit the Utah Grizzlies on Friday and Saturday night.
