Billy Ryan Joins Stingrays

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has signed forward Billy Ryan. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Ryan, 26, joins the Stingrays after skating in three games with the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League earlier this season earning one assist. Last season, the Milton, Massachusetts, native dressed in 63 games with the Nottingham Panthers of the EIHL scoring 77 points (30g, 47a). A third-round draft pick (80th overall) by the New York Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Ryan saw ECHL action with the Wheeling Nailers during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 campaigns netting 34 points (15g, 19a) in 34 games.

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound forward attended the University of Maine for four seasons registering 35 goals and 57 assists for 92 points in 135 games.

The Stingrays' five-game road trip moves to Reading, Pennsylvania on Thursday, October 27 to square up against the Royals at 7:05 p.m. at the Sovereign Center.
