Reno Aces News Release
El Evasión (The Escape):
The Aces split their fifth series of the year with the Oklahoma City Dodgers, moving to 6-0-5 in 11 six-game sets.
After losing its opening game, 6-3, on July 15, Reno converted three of the next four into wins before falling in the finale, 10-3.
Henry Ramos continued his hot hitting against the Dodgers, going 8-for-18 at the dish to go along with four RBIs, a double and a home run in five starts.
Humberto Mejia flirted with a no-hitter on July 19, going seven innings, allowing just one run on two hits and striking out six batters in his fourth win of the season.
El Cerrador (The Closer):
Miguel Aguilar has been lights out in July, converting on all eight of his save opportunities and allowing just one earned run on five hits for a 1.04 ERA in 8.2 innings of work. The Aces' closer has also struck out 10 batters and the opposition is hitting a measly .172 against him.
Aguilar has yet to allow a hit with the bases loaded this season and has held his opponents to a .210 batting average with runners on base.
After picking up his 12th save in the team's July 16 contest with the Dodgers, Aguilar secured his 13th on July 19 by halting Oklahoma City's four-run ninth with 0.2 innings of work and a strikeout.
The Aces' closer tied Bobby Korecky (2009) and Carlos Rosa for sixth all-time with 13 saves in a single campaign with his ninth-inning close out on Monday. Aguilar is two away from moving into a tie for fourth with Slivino Bracho (2016) and Jimmy Sherfy (2018) with 15 saves.
Manos Calientes (Hot Hands):
Henry Ramos has been on fire since the start of July, boasting a .438/.518/.583 slash line while going 21-for-48 at the dish in 13 games. Of his 21 base knocks, 18 have been singles to along with a pair of home runs, nine RBIs and nine runs scored.
With his two-run single in the fourth inning against the Dodgers on Tuesday, Ramos extended his hitting streak to nine. Over his nine-game stretch, the 29-year-old has gone 17-for-32 (.531) with seven runs scored, seven RBIs and five walks.
Having reached nine straight games with a hit, Ramos has matched his career-high hitting streak. He has recorded base knocks in nine consecutive games on two occasions with his last coming on July 15-24, 2019, with Sacramento.
In his Triple-A career, Ramos has registered exactly half of his total hits in July, smacking 79 of his 158 career base knocks in the seventh month of the year. The 29-year-old is hitting .282 with 37 runs scored and 32 RBIs.
In games Ramos registers at least two hits, the Aces hold a 10-7 record.
El Oponente (The Opponent):
Round Rock will be making its first appearance in Reno since May 15-18, 2017, where the Aces took three of four games by a combined score, 41-17.
Wes Benjamin has made just one career start against the Aces, going 4.2 innings and allowing seven runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.
Delino DeShields Jr. has been solid for the Express through 54 games this season, slashing .272/.394/.379 with 17 RBIs and 39 runs scored.

Lalli's squad reclaimed sole possession of the top spot in professional baseball with 48 runs scored in the ninth inning, surpassing the Houston Astros. Reno boasts a second-best .318 batting average, trailing only Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (.325).
Ellis' 19 doubles rank just behind his fellow corner infielder and league leader, Beer (23), good for sixth in Triple-A. The Aces' third baseman remains in a two-way tie for sixth in Triple-A West with 32 extra-base hits.
