April 10, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

LAS VEGAS – Marc Magliarditti stopped all 34 shots he faced and Christian Chartier's goal early in the third period proved decisive as Las Vegas defeated Alaska 2-0 in front of a sell-out crowd of 7,773 Saturday at Orleans Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Aces enjoyed two five-on-three power plays in the second period and out-shot the Wranglers 18-9, yet came away with nothing. Chartier finally broke the scoreless tie at 2:26 of the third period when he blasted a rebound by Alaska goalie Peter Aubry (31 saves) from the top of the left circle. Marco Peluso sealed the win with an empty-netter at 18:57, denying the Aces a club record-tying 46th victory and 100 points for the regular season. B.J. Young and ECHL scoring champion Scott Gomez (13g-73a-86p) did not play, while fellow first team all-league performer Chris Minard failed in his bid to become the first ECHL player to score 50 goals since the 2000-01 season, finishing with an league-high 49.

Alaska, West Division champions at 45-19-8 for a club-record 98 points during the regular season, will begin its quest for the 2005 Kelly Cup Tuesday night at 7:15 p.m. against the Bakersfield Condors in Game 1 of the West Division semi-finals at Sullivan Arena. Game 2 also will be held in Anchorage Wednesday at 7:15 p.m., with the best-of-five series shifting to Bakersfield for Thursday night's Game 3 at 6:00 p.m. AST. If necessary, Game 4 also will be played in Bakersfield Saturday at 6:00 p.m. AST with the fifth and deciding game scheduled for Monday, April 18, at Sullivan Arena.

The Aces finished 3-4 against the fourth-place Condors (40-22-10) during the regular season. All first round games will be broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and also will be made available on a pay-per-view basis at www.alaskaaces.com, courtesy of B2 Networks.
