West Valley City, Utah - The Alaska Aces jumped ahead three games to none on Utah in the ECHL's West Division Semi-Finals with a 4-1 win over the Grizzlies Thursday night at the E-Center.

Alaska scored a shorthanded goal at 5:09 with Vladimir Novak going in unassisted. The goal came just seconds after a Utah 5 on 3 power-play expired. Alaska scored on the 5 on 3 power-play at 11:41, going up 2-0, with Chris Minard taking a setup from Alex Leavitt and Peter Metcalf.

The Aces went up 3-0 at 11:20 of the second, when Alex Leavitt and Peter Metcalf setup Chris Minard again for another 5 on 3 power-play goal. The Grizzlies cut the deficit to two when Brent Henley, fresh out of the penalty box, knocked in a rebound on a Travis Rycroft shot, making the score 3-1.

The Aces tacked on a shorthanded empty-netter from Mike Scott at 18:16 of the third. Brent Henley has now scored two of Utah's three goals this post-season.

The Grizzlies will look to avoid elimination tomorrow night when they rematch with the Aces at the E-Center. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
