Aces finalize 2004 training camp

Anchorage, Alaska â The Alaska Aces professional hockey team opens training camp October 8, as players report before taking the ice for the first time at Ben Boeke Arena Saturday night, October 9 at 6:15 p.m.
Alaska has signed 17 players to contracts for the 2004-05 season, including eight forwards, seven defensemen, and goalies Peter Aubry and Lance Mayes. Head coach Davis Payne estimates that 25 players will be invited to this year's camp, as opposed to 33 last season.
"I hope our fans come out to our practices and pre-season games this year, because I'm expecting an extremely competitive camp," said Payne. "A couple of roster spots are still up for grabs, and as we saw last year with the emergence of Jordan Cameron, there's often a surprise or two that comes out of it."
The Aces will be in camp only four full days before their pre-season contests against the Greenville Grrrowl October 13-14 at 7:15 p.m. in Sullivan Arena. All practice sessions during training camp are FREE and open to the public. Ticket prices for the pre-season games are only $9.50 for season ticket-holders and may be purchased by calling 258-ACES or at www.ticketmaster.com.
Alaska opens up its regular season October 22 at defending Kelly Cup champion Idaho before returning home for a three-game set with San Diego at Sullivan Arena, beginning October 29. KFQD 750 AM will again serve as the flagship station for Alaska Aces games, with the live feed also available at www.alaskaaces.com, which also will offer live video webcasts of all Aces home games and selected road contests, courtesy of B2 Networks.
