RENO, Nev.-Angel Berroa smashed a grand slam that capped a five-run Aces seventh inning and lifted Reno to a 12-8 victory over the Tucson Padres in the regular-season finale Monday afternoon at Aces Ballpark.

The Aces conclude the regular season with a 77-67 record-second-best in franchise history. Reno has won the Pacific North Division and advanced to the Pacific Coast League Playoffs for the first time. The club will begin its postseason run on Wednesday night at Aces Ballpark in Game One of the Pacific Conference Championship Series against the Sacramento River Cats.

On Monday, Reno jumped ahead early, but the Padres clawed back to pull to within a run, 6-5, through six innings. The Aces would deliver the crushing blow in the seventh, though, sending eight men to the plate and cashing in five runs to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Aces starter Tom Layne (10-7) earned the victory, scattering five runs-four earned-on eight hits over six innings of work. Out of the Aces bullpen, Michael Bolsinger threw a scoreless seventh in his Triple-A debut, Eury de la Rosa allowed two runs in his Triple-A debut, and Esmerling Vasquez finished the proceedings in the ninth.

Samuel Deduno (4-6) took the loss for Tucson, allowing five runs-just one earned-on four hits over 2.2 innings of work.

At the dish for Reno, Mark Hallberg and Ryan Langerhans drove in two runs, in addition to Berroa's four-RBI effort. All nine Aces starters scored a run.

Reno will enjoy an off-day on Tuesday, before beginning the PCL Playoffs on Wednesday night. In Game One, LHP Zach Kroenke gets the nod for Reno, while Sacramento will counter with RHP Graham Godfrey. First pitch at Aces Ballpark is set for 6:35 p.m. PT, and all fans in attendance will receive an Aces Rally Towel, courtesy of Siena Hotel Spa Casino.

Tickets for the Aces' first-ever trip to the playoffs are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, the Aces Ballpark Box Office or by phone at (775) 334-7000.
