Aces double up Rox
July 5, 2004 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Aces News Release
The Aces picked up a win tonight in impressive fashion, scoring 10 runs against the second-place Brockton Rox. The Aces halted their six-game losing streak, at the same time knocking Brockton back to one and a half games out of first behind the North Shore Spirit.
The Aces exploded in the first, as Al Corbeil slapped a 2 RBI double into right field to start the scoring. Four of the next five batters would drive in runs before Brockton could stop the damage. The Rox would score two in the bottom half, but the damage had been done. After adding runs in the second and third, the Aces found themselves up 8-3. The game would get as close as 8-5, but the Aces nailed the coffin shut in the ninth, scoring two more runs and letting Angel Miranda shut down the Rox' offense.
For the Aces, Yohanny Valera went 3-5 from the plate, with three RBI, a Homerun, and three runs scored. The Aces finished with seven players getting two or more hits. From Brockton, Mike Torres went 4-4 on the game, driving in 3 RBI
