Aces Avoid Shutout, 7-3
August 5, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release
NEW ORLEANS, La.- For the second-straight night, a ninth inning rally allowed the Reno Aces to narrowly avoid a shutout on Monday, as the club fell 7-3 to the New Orleans Zephyrs at Zephyrs Field.
Taylor Harbin broke the shutout bid in the ninth, with runners on the corners and two outs in the frame. Tony Campana extended his hitting streak to six games with a two-RBI double, bringing the score to 7-3.
After snapping an 0-for-31 skid last night, Aces third baseman Matt Davidson went 2-for-4. Reno batters outhit the Zephyrs 11 to eight, but left nine stranded.
Ed Easley recorded his fifth-straight multi-hit performance, going 3-for-4 at the plate. The Aces catcher has had eight multi-hit performances since returning from the All-Star break.
Trevor Cahill, in continuation of his Major League Rehabilitation Assignment with the Aces, was shaky in his second start for Reno. He was charged with six runs-all earned-on six hits through 4.1 innings, while striking out six in the loss. The righty allowed back-to-back home runs, including one to opposing pitcher Sam Dyson, in what became a six-run fifth inning for New Orleans.
Cahill's last professional win came against the Zephyrs' parent club Miami Marlins on May 17.
Dyson was stellar earning the win in his Triple-A debut. He allowed just four hits across 6.0 shutout innings, while walking two and striking out four.
The series wraps up tomorrow night, as the Aces look to force a series split. RHP Mike Bolsinger (4-4, 3.95 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Zephyrs will counter with RHP Jay Jackson (1-1, 5.50 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. PT, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
Reno returns home on Thursday, Aug. 8, for an eight-game homestand. Tickets are available for all remaining home games at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
