ABA Announces Players of the Week

December 12, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Los Angeles, CA. Derrick Pearson, host of ABALIVETALK, announced the two Players of the Week on his Saturday broadcast - the first time there was an East Coast and West Coast Player of the Week. Once again, the voting by teams and fans was very close and the league had its first two time winner - Chandler Thompson, star of the undefeated Indiana Alley Cats. The West Coast winner was Caleb Gervin of the Bellingham Slam, the nephew of ABA/NBA legend, George "Iceman" Gervin.

Gervin had 25 points in leading Bellingham over the previously unbeaten Aoshen Olympian while Thompson had 33 points and 11 rebounds in his game. For more information, visit www.abalive.com. Nominations for the weekly award should be sent to abalivetalk@aol.com. Pearson stated, "It's interesting...for three weeks now, two Gallup Talons players Bernard McIntosh and Will Funn, have been one vote from winning Player of the Week. They are having outstanding seasons and if they keep it up, will be receiving awards."

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
