Hagerstown Suns News Release

Thanks to the Hagerstown Suns and a host of other Suns business partners, the Hagerstown Suns are currently distributing nearly 900 tickets to underprivileged youth throughout the Tri-State Area for the Suns home game on Saturday, August 12th.

One of many community initiatives of the Suns, "A NIGHT FOR KIDS" aims to give children of less fortunate circumstances the opportunity to attend a game for free. For many of the kids, the night represents their only baseball game of the year, or in many cases, their first professional game ever. This year represents the 2nd annual "A Night for Kids."

"We're thrilled to be hosting this event for so many of our area's deserving youth nonprofit organizations," said Suns President and General Manager Kurt Landes. "Although we routinely pledge support to community groups all year long, this one night is going to be a special treat to see kids attend a game that would probably not have had that opportunity otherwise. The Suns are in a unique position to help bring smiles to kids faces that perhaps other businesses can't do. To me, that's the magic of baseball - putting smiles on kids faces."

Over the course of the past month and in the upcoming two weeks, numerous youth not-for-profit organizations have been contacted about being given the free tickets as well as free popcorn vouchers. Based on availability, the Suns encourage other appropriate youth organizations to contact the Suns to learn how to join the program and receive free game tickets.

Game time for the August 12th game vs. the Greensboro Grasshoppers is 7:05pm. The Suns are the single A affiliate of the New York Mets and are owned by Los Angeles based Mandalay Baseball Properties.
