SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Sand Gnats posted five runs in the sixth inning but it was not enough as Savannah dropped a 9-6 loss to the West Virginia Power Sunday afternoon at Historic Grayson Stadium.

Marco Estrada struggled in his second start as a Sand Gnat, giving up four runs on six hits in just three innings on the hill. Rudy Garza came on in relief in the fourth and allowed five runs in three frames before Don Levinski threw a perfect seventh.

The Sand Gnats trailed 9-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, but got five runs back in the inning on the strength of five hits, including a three-run double off the bat of Ofilio Castro. Tim Pahuta also recorded an RBI double in the frame while Reggie Fitzpatrick capped the frame with a run-scoring single.

The Gnats scored their first run in the fourth when Alex Nunez legged out an infield single and moved around the bases on a single by Rob Sandora and a walk to Jose Contreras. With two down and the bases loaded, Ofilio Castro lined a single to left to drive home Nunez.

Mat Gamel led the Power at the dish, finishing the game 2-for-3 with six RBI on two home runs, one of which was inside the park and drove in three runners.

Savannah and West Virginia wrap up the series Monday at 7:05 p.m. as the Gnats send left-hander John Lannan to the mound to face Power lefty Dave Welch. Tomorrow's game is a Motown Monday, featuring $2 general admission tickets, hamburgers, hot dogs, beers and Cokes.
