Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Wranglers defenseman Barry Goers has written a letter regarding the Cell Phones for Soldiers program and how you can help our men and women serving overseas. Please take a moment to read his message.

Dear Friends and Fans,

The Las Vegas Wranglers are on a mission! In addition to our mission on the ice, we want to work beyond the walls of a hockey rink to build a stronger community and help others. Our mission off the ice: to collect cell phones for the Cell Phones For Soldiers Program. What is the Cell Phones For Soldiers Program? Cell Phones For Soldiers is a non-profit organization that collects old cell phones, recycles them, and uses the proceeds to purchase pre-paid phone cards to send to troops overseas. How did this program start? Two teenagers, Robbie and Brittany Bergquist from Norwell, MA, were astounded when they read that a soldier had an $8,000 dollar phone bill, equivalent to approximately one third of his yearly salary! They decided the cost for this soldier to call home during t he year was unacceptable especially when he was risking his life overseas. They started the Cell Phones For Soldiers program with the goal of helping soldiers overseas more easily and inexpensively communicate with family and friends back home. Since then, they have collected hundreds of thousands of phones as well as millions in monetary donations to help thousands of soldiers overseas inexpensively communicate with their families! The Wranglers challenge you to take part in their mission to collect over 500 phones for this program; monetary donations will also be accepted. This is a chance for you to thank those who serve overseas to protect our way of life and allow us to live at home safely. Please find those old cell phones that you do not know what to do with and donate them! Don't stop there either! Go to your places of employment, extended family and friends and ask them to donate their old phones to our cause. You can be the catalyst that makes a big difference so please join the Wranglers for this great cause, and make a difference in the lives of others. A call home to family can be the most important thing to a soldier overseas.

The collection will take place during the rest of the regular season. There will be cell phone drop boxes located at the Wranglers Guest Services table on the Orleans Arena concourse during all home games for you to drop off old phones or make monetary donations. The Wranglers are offering one free ticket to a future game for each phone donated. If you would like to take a collection box to work, contact us and we will provide you with one. Learn more at the Cell Phones for Soldiers website, http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/index.html, or join our group on Facebook, The Las Vegas Wranglers Cell Phones For Soldiers Collection. Remember, not only are you making a great donation, but you will be recycling which is great for our planet! On behalf of the Wranglers, th ank you very much for reading and we hope to see your participation in the coming months.

Sincerely,

Barry Goers and The Las Vegas Wranglers
