Reno Silver Sox News Release

After beating St George handily in game one of Saturday's double header, the Roadrunner pitching was too much for the Sox in game two.

GAME 1

The Reno Silver Sox and St George Roadrunners met for a double header on Saturday, and the Silver Sox bats carried the team to a 9-3 game one victory.

CF Gary Harris led off the game with a triple, and then DH Carlos Madrid walked. The next batter was 3B John Hattig and he knocked both runners in with a double off the left field fence against St George starting pitcher Marcos Caravajal. The Sox kept the rally alive when RF Ben Wharton drove in a run with an infield single. After one inning the Silver Sox had a 3-0 lead.

The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard for the first time in the third inning when 2B Liu Rodriguex hit a solo home run to make it 3-1 Reno. The Sox would come to life again in the bottom of the third when 1B Steve Alexander homered and C Matt Cavanaugh grounded in a run. Reno tacked on two more runs the next inning when DH Carlos Madrid singled to reach base for the third straight time ? he reached base every time he came to the plate in this game.

The Roadrunners did manage to find some offense in the seventh, as 2B Rodriguez doubled in two more runs. However the Silver Sox prevailed behind Kevin Frederick who pitched the final three innings of Saturdays game one allowing only the two runs.

GAME 2

In the top of the sixth inning, Angel Sanchez delivered the big blow for St. George hitting a three run home run over the center field wall giving the roadrunners a 6-0 lead that they would not relinquish.
