'Cats light up Armada for 15 hits, winning 7-1

Edmonton, AB- The Edmonton Cracker-Cats finished off their three game series versus the Armada tonight, with a 7-1 victory. The 'Cats received run support from everyone in the line-up tonight, especially the 7th through 9th hitters, who scored in all the seven runs.

Ricardo Rodriguez continued his outstanding play for the 'Cats since his arrival mid-season. He went into the contest sporting a ERA of 4.33. His final numbers were 8.0IP, 6H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, with 6 strikeouts on the night. His record now jumps to 7-2.

Dustin Gober started the game for the Armada. His totals from the game were 6.0IP, 8H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB and 2 strikeouts bringing his season total to 4-7.

Jose Valdez hit a three run home run in the fourth inning, to score in Joe Jiannetti, and Chris Van Rossum, giving the 'Cats a two run lead.

Johnathan Castro tripled in the eighth inning to score in Valdez, while Jordan Lundberg singled to bring Castro home, increasing the 'Cats lead to 6-1.

Castro had another RBI in the top of the ninth, as he cashed in Van Rossum, giving the 'Cats a commanding 7-1 lead going into the ninth.

Erik Van Slyke entered the game in the ninth, and shut the door for the 'Cats.

The Cracker-Cats second season record now moves to 20-13, 5.5 games up on Calgary for first place in the north division.

The 'Cats return home tomorrow, and will face Gary Carter's Orange County Flyers on Tuesday, August 19th. Game time is 7:05 pm.
