A Big League Kind of Town
April 23, 2016 - Texas League (TL1)
Midland RockHounds News Release
San Antonio is, of course, home to the NBA's Spurs and this week the Alamo City is also playing host to the planet's best golfers with the PGA Tour's Valero Texas Open being contested at the JW Marriott TPC. The San Antonio Missions had their own touch of the big leagues Friday night, sending former Major Leaguer Brandon Morrow to the mound against the RockHounds.
The 'Hounds got to Morrow for four runs in five innings, including a pair of home runs, but the Missions scored a half dozen times against RockHounds starter Joel Seddon and went on to an 8-4 win at Nelson Wolff Stadium.
Alberth Martinez's two-run double in the second gave San Antonio a 2-1 lead, and the Missions never trailed the rest of the way.
Jaycob Brugman's solo home run in the third brought the 'Hounds to within 3-2 and Viosergy Rosa's two run shot to right in the fifth cut a four-run deficit in half (6-4), but the Missions came right back with a two-run fifth of their own and the game was scoreless the rest of the way.
