Abbotsford Heat News Release

The Abbotsford Heat held their first annual Teddy Bear Toss at last night's contest between the Heat and the Peoria Rivermen. Josh Meyers sent the bears raining down at 7:52 of the first period. Hundreds of bears made their way to the ice and will be distributed by the Abbotsford Christmas Bureau throughout the Fraser Valley.

Saturday night the Abbotsford Food Bank was on hand to accept food and cash donations from patrons. Generous fans donated the equivalent of 30 banana boxes full of food and close to $1000.00 in cash donations.

"What is significant about the Abbotsford Heat helping us is that in many respects we are not unlike the "Heat" in that we too are a team...not so much dedicated to winning a game...but helping people reach their potential and win at life. Dan Zadra writes: "No one can be the best at everything...but when all of us combine our talents, we will be the best at virtually everything." says Dave Murray the Coordinator for the Abbotsford Food Bank & Christmas Bureau, "It is my belief that a star team will always beat a team of stars. The only way our clients have any hope is for people like yourselves decide step up to the plate and make a difference in their lives. The thousands of people who support us are the very foundation of our team."

The Heat now begin their Holiday break and will return to action December 27th in Manitoba to take on the Moose at the MTS Centre.
