A Bear of a Game

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the International Hockey League, announce that the 9th Annual Teddy Bear Toss Night and visit from Santa Presented by Hydro Aluminum and WKFR will occur this Saturday, December 20th, when the K-Wings host the Bloomington PrairieThunder at 7:30 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used teddy bear or other stuffed animal to the December 20th game. After the K-Wings score their first goal, all fans will be allowed to throw their bears onto the ice. A majority of the bears collected will be donated to Salvation Army. The remaining bears will be delivered by Kalamazoo Wings players, Slappy and Santa Claus to patients of The Children's Hospital at Bronson on Monday, December 22nd at 11:30 a.m.

Over the past eight years, the K-Wings have collected thousands of stuffed animals that were distributed to children during the holidays.

Saturday's contest will be the second-leg of a two-game home stand for the K-Wings. Kalamazoo will start the stand this Friday, December 19th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off against the Flint Generals.
