Bakersfield Jam News Release

(Bakersfield, Calif., April 8, 2008) - The Golden State Warriors today announced that they have recalled center Patrick O'Bryant from the Bakersfield Jam. O'Bryant left the Jam Tuesday and is expected to join the Warriors in Sacramento for their Tuesday night game against the Kings.

O'Bryant appeared in eight games with the Jam since being assigned to Bakersfield on March 10. The 7-footer averaged 16.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.5 blocked shots over that eight-game span, including a season-high 22 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots in last Friday's game versus the Idaho Stampede.

"The Warriors have been keeping close tabs on Patrick since they assigned him to us, and they have been impressed with the way he's been playing," said Jam Head Coach Scott Roth. "Patrick has been a key part of our team the past month and we are thrilled to have played a role in his development."

O'Bryant was the second center to be assigned to Bakersfield this season, following Kosta Perovic who appeared in 21 games with Bakersfield earlier this season. O'Bryant was Golden State's first-round draft pick (the ninth pick overall) in the 2006 NBA Draft. He played 25 games in Bakersfield last season, averaging 12 points, nine rebounds and nearly three blocked shots a game.

With the Warriors last season, O'Bryant appeared in 16 games, averaging 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in 7½ minutes a game. This season, he has appeared in 22 games for Golden State, averaging just under 4½ minutes, scoring 1.5 points and grabbing 1.3 rebounds.

The NBA Development League is the NBA's official minor league, and the first-ever basketball league with direct affiliations to NBA teams. Now in its seventh season the D-League's goals are to provide affordable, NBA-caliber entertainment to fans of its 16 teams, as well as continue to develop players, coaches, referees and front-office personnel for the NBA.

As the single source for in-season player "call-ups" to the NBA, fans of the D-League enjoy the highest caliber of basketball played outside the NBA. In fact, former D-League players represented 10 percent of NBA players on 2007-08 opening day rosters, numbering 44 in total. In addition, the D-League has produced 25 percent of current NBA referees and 17 current NBA coaches, including head coach Sam Vincent with the Charlotte Bobcats.
