Forward Eddie Johnson to be Out 4 to 6 Weeks With a Toe Injury

DALLAS, Texas - FC Dallas Interim General Manager John Alper announced today that forward Eddie Johnson will miss the next four to six weeks after recently suffering a stress fracture of the first metatarsal on his right foot. Johnson suffered a similar injury in his team's 5-2 victory over Chivas USA on May 22, with that injury keeping him out for more than two months.

"Eddie is a valuable part of what we are trying to do here, so obviously we are going to miss him," said FC Dallas Head Coach Colin Clarke. "However, we want him to get the rest that he needs in order to get healthy and we're looking forward to getting him healthy and getting him back as soon as possible."

The FC Dallas and U.S. National Team striker has played in 15 of the Hoops 25 MLS matches this season and is third on the team in goals with five while adding a pair of assists. Johnson made his U.S. National Team debut near the end of the 2004 MLS season, coming off the bench and scoring against El Salvador. He has since gone on to make eight more appearances for the National Team, scoring seven more goals, including a hat trick against Panama on October 13, 2004 to become the first player in U.S. history to register a hat trick as a substitute.

Johnson's FC Dallas teammates will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host Real Salt Lake at Pizza Hut Park. This game will be televised live on ESPN2 at 1 p.m. That game will be preceded by a NASL Reunion Game at 11 a.m., and followed by the Reserve Division game between the FC Dallas Reserves and the Real Salt Lake Reserves.
