67's Take Back-and-Forth Affair

February 21, 2009 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Ottawa 67's News Release

It was hard to tell what was crazier - the back and forth scoring between the 67's and the Rangers, or the antics of Krazy George! First, the game: The 67's got off to a strong start, leading 2-0 in the first period, only to have the Rangers tie the game halfway through the second. The 67's next goal was answered with a quick score by Kitchener just 41 seconds later. In the third period, Ottawa's fourth goal was again matched just 52 seconds later.

Seven more minutes of nerve-racking action finally ended with no. 13 Kiriakou's game-winning goal, scored with just three minutes left in regulation (pictured above). Your Ottawa 67's skated away from this game triumphant - final score: 5-4.

Krazy George was in the house Friday, entertaining the 9,304 fans who packed the arena. He had the whole crowd cheering, chanting, and clapping all night long - and led the wave around the arena. (see bottom picture)

In case you didn't know, Krazy George claims to have invented the wave, first using it as part of his routine in 1981.

We also paid tribute to members of the Canadian Forces and their families with more than 700 of them joining us. Captain Lynn Bisson and Chief Warrant Officer Michel Ouellet were at centre ice for the ceremonial puck drop (pictured below).

We hope you join us again, or for the first time, this Sunday at 2 p.m. when your Ottawa 67's take on the Niagara Ice Dogs!
