The Whalers moved to the lead early, scoring on their first five Grade A scoring opportunities. Brown got Plymouth rolling with his 6th of the year at 2:42 after tipping AJ Jenks' shot from the left circle past Sarnia goaltender Dan Spence. Jordan scored his first of the game at 6:54 of the period, tapping home a loose puck home from the right of the Sarnia goal. Later in the period, Plymouth blew the game open with three goals in a span of 1:42 - Caria at 15:30 (one-timer and 21st of the year all alone from the right doorstep), Jordan at 16:08 (8th of the year with a shot from the top of the left circle that deflected past Spence) and Terry at 17:12 (32nd of the year on a shot from the left wing). Plymouth led, 5-0, after one period.
The teams traded goals the rest of the way, with Caria and Terry scoring in the second period for the Whalers and Sutch and Martin replying for Sarnia. Jordan completed his hat trick for Plymouth and 9th goal off the year at 4:41 of the third period with a hard shot from the top of the left circle. Sutch completed the scoring with his second of the game at 6th of the year at 5:28 of the third period.

Jordan's hat trick for Plymouth is the first for a Whalers defenseman since Nov. 2, 2002, when James Wisniewski (now with the Chicago Blackhawks) completed the feat in a 9-3 victory over London. The eight-goal outburst is the first of the season for Plymouth this year. The Whalers scored eight goals last season in an 8-1 victory over Erie on Jan. 12, 2008.
The Whalers are home for the rest of the weekend, hosting Erie on Saturday at 7:05 pm and Saginaw on Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets are available by calling (734) 453-8400.
