York Revolution News Release
(York, Pa.): "Eventive," the dedicated special events arm of the York Revolution is organizing the annual York Halloween Parade for a third consecutive year. Scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, October 25, this event is once again presented by York Traditions Bank, official Eventive community events partner. Other returning sponsors include Shipley Energy, York College of Pennsylvania, Bricker's French Fries, Community Courier, DCS School of Driving and Doceo Office Solutions. New 2015 Eventive community events sponsors include CGA Law Firm, Glatfelter Insurance Group and ComForCare Home Care.
The parade will follow the new streamlined route that was introduced last fall; marching down Market Street from Richland Avenue to Broad Street. The judging area remains based at the York County Administrative Office (the old courthouse) at 26 East Market Street downtown. The parade will last from approximately 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
In 2014, the long-standing tradition of local high school marching bands participating in the parade returned to the forefront. This year, Dover Eagle Marching Band will join returning bands Central York, Dallastown, West York, William Penn, York Catholic and York Suburban to entertain spectators with their excellent performances. To reward each band, Menchey Music will be donating $100 worth of merchandise of the band's choosing to each.
A full-family event, other attractions include the return of the Family Entertainment Zone. This area has relocated to North George Street between Market & Philadelphia Streets, next to the parade route. Phantom Shadow Entertainment will provide inflatables, games, activities and music from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Inside the Family Entertainment Zone will be this year's thrill ride, the Parade View Zip Line presented by CGA Law Firm.
"When we first took over operation of the Halloween Parade, we did so to ensure a classic York County tradition stayed alive," said Adam Nugent, York Revolution Special Events Director and the director of Eventive. "By taking the expertise of the York Revolution outside of the stadium, we're putting the parade on solid footing for years to come, with the help of York Traditions Bank as our presenting sponsor," Nugent continued.
The theme for the 2015 York Halloween Parade is "Proud Past, Strong Future". Parade entries from across York County are encouraged to celebrate significant milestones by creating original float designs and marching drills that convey some of York's many local, regional, national and global accomplishments. Businesses that are celebrating significant anniversaries are also encouraged to enter the parade so they can be recognized for their longevity.
"Our community is strong because of entrepreneurs who had the courage to pursue their dreams and start their businesses in York County," noted Mike Kochenour, Founder, Chairman and CEO of York Traditions Bank. "Whether it's 10 years or 100 years, we want to celebrate their milestone with them and applaud them as they march toward the future."
In honor of Martin Library's upcoming 100th Anniversary in 2016, the Grand Marshal of the Parade is Paula Gilbert , director of children and youth services for York County Libraries. Beloved in the York community, Gilbert is the face of children's programming at Martin Library and libraries countywide.
