Inland Empire 66ers News Release
Visalia, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino made it two wins in a row with a 8-5 win over Visalia to even up a six-game series after dropping the first two games of the set. The contest was distinctly divided into offensive early innings and strong bullpen late as all 13 runs were scored in the first five innings. The victory pushed the Sixers over .500 at 41-40 as Inland Empire improved to 10-6 against the Rawhide in 2021.
Inland Empire jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first against Visalia starter Adrian Del Moral (0-7) highlighted by Paxton Wallace's two-run double. Inland Empire pushed its lead to 4-2 in the third but the Rawhide (20-62) tied the game at four after Ryan Bliss delivered a solo homer, the first of his career, and Ronny Simon followed with a triple and came home on a game-tying RBI groundout. The 66ers immediately answered back dropping four runs in the fourth getting RBI singles from Braxton Martinez and Jose Reyes as well as RBI ground out by Wallace and sac fly from Cade Cabbiness for an 8-5 lead. The Rawhide chiseled into the lead in the fifth on a RBI single from Tim Tawa against IE starter John Swanda (4-5). Swanda gutted through six innings to earn the win and set the tone for the bullpen with a perfect sixth inning. He gave way to Chase Chaney who tossed two scoreless innings out of the pen. Emilker Guzman locked the game down in the ninth by striking out the side in order earining his eighth save in eight opportunities. Glenallen Hill Jr. homered for the Rawhide, his sixth of the year and third against the 66ers. Jeremy Arocho had three hits for the Sixers and stole his 21st base of the year. Elijah Green had two hits while Braxton Martinez reached base five times going 2-for-2 and drawing three walks in the win; Wallace drew three walks as well.
The series continues Saturday at 6:00 pm. The contest can be heard live on 66ers.com.
