Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

San Bernardino, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes saw their momentum slow on Tuesday night, as Inland Empire rolled to a big 13-3 win at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino.

Winners of seven straight series overall, the Quakes couldn't overcome a four-run first inning and now must win the final two games of the series to see their series winning streak reach eight straight.

Gary Mitchell's two-run single highlighted the four-run first, along with a bases-loaded walk and a throwing error by starting pitcher Gustavo Gomez, which helped build the 66ers' lead.

Inland Empire starter Mark Sappington (11-4) had the Quakes' number most of the night, carrying a shutout into the seventh, until Chris Jacobs busted it up, homering with a man aboard to make it 6-2. For Jacobs, he now has four long-balls in his last seven games and seven on the year.

The 66ers put it away in the bottom of the inning, tallying seven runs to take a commanding 13-2 lead against Quakes' reliever Eric Eadington.

A Pratt Maynard RBI single in the ninth rounded out the scoring at 13-3.

Gomez (4-6) suffered the loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on five hits over just three innings.

Rancho (19-20, 50-59) will look to rebound on Wednesday, sending Lindsey Caughel (3-6) to the hill, opposite Inland Empire right-hander Orangel Arenas (6-4) at 7:05pm.

The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 6th, taking on the Lake Elsinore Storm in a three-game home stand. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you very soon at LoanMart Field. Go Quakes!
