Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Inland Empire held a three run lead heading to the bottom of the sixth but the 66ers (60-68, 29-29) still fell to the Bakersfield Blaze (65-63, 24-34) Wednesday night by a 10-5 final. C.J. Cron and Kaleb Cowart did homer in the loss, Cron's put him one RBI shy of the franchise single season record.

After 11 straight batters had been retired by Blaze starter Dan Renken, C.J. Cron led of the fifth with a solo home run to put Inland Empire even with the Blaze. The RBI acquired on that smash gave Cron 122 on the season, one short of the franchise record set in 1999 by Chin Feng Chen, and two away from the Angels single season minor league mark.

In the sixth Kaleb Cowart crushed a three run home run to give Inland Empire a 4-1 lead, but the advantage would be short lived. The Blaze posted five runs in their half of the frame, and scored in each inning thereafter, eventually winning 10-5.

Inland Empire's tragic number has now been taken down to eight, meaning any combination of 66ers losses and Lake Elsinore wins that add to eight would eliminate the 66ers. The series finale in Bakersfield starts Thursday at 7:15, and the game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 7:00.
