Winnipeg, MB - 50 Below Sports + Entertainment ("50 Below") is pleased to announce the new Manitoba Junior ICE Spring Hockey Program with the acquisition of the Spring Manitoba Hockey Development ("SMHD") and the Manitoba Mustangs/Team Manitoba Brick.

50 Below has brought these highly-regarded hockey organizations together in order to further the company's dedication to providing grassroots hockey development opportunities for young male and female players in Manitoba. With multiple teams for players aged 6-13, the Manitoba Junior ICE will provide development opportunities at all levels of hockey that will be tailored specifically to each skill level.

The Manitoba Junior ICE will provide a spring hockey experience that is unparalleled in North America through integration with the Winnipeg ICE, Winnipeg Blues, RINK Training Centre, RINK Hockey Academy programs and the sports science and training professionals at Testify Performance.

"We are incredibly excited to add over 30 new teams to the 50 Below family," said David Blatt, President, 50 Below. "As a community-based organization, we are passionate about providing a variety of exceptional experiences and opportunities for every kid who loves hockey."

The new Manitoba Junior ICE Spring Hockey Program includes the SMHD, which has 20+ spring hockey teams, ranging from developmental to elite teams who compete against other top teams in North America.

"I'm very proud of the organization that SMHD has become, and I am excited to continue this journey with 50 Below," said Brian Frykas, the founder of SMHD, who will continue in his capacity leading the organization. "With access to the RINK Training Centre and a renowned coaching staff for both male and female players, SMHD will offer a more enhanced experience for these incredible teams and players."

The Manitoba Junior ICE Spring Hockey Program also includes the Manitoba Mustangs, who have 10+ teams. The most well-known team is Team Manitoba Brick, which represents the province at the annual Brick Tournament in Edmonton. The Brick Tournament showcases top 10 year old talent across North America and is known for attracting top players. Its alumni includes many NHL and WHL players like Manitoba's own Jonathan Toews (Chicago Blackhawks), Nolan Patrick (Philadelphia Flyers) and Carson Lambos (Winnipeg ICE).

"50 Below and the Manitoba Junior ICE will provide current and future Mustang players with the ability to utilize the RINK Training Centre, whose facilities and staff are the best in Manitoba," said Garth Lancaster, Manitoba Mustangs. "We have a proud, decades-long legacy, and 50 Below will provide the organization with new opportunities and new momentum."

More details about the Manitoba Junior ICE Spring Hockey Program will be available in the coming months.
