MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA D-League Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that registration at Academy Sports + Outdoors locations Valley- wide, the Vipers Team Headquarters and rgvipers.com is now open for the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament to be held on October 3 starting at 7:00 a.m. at the McAllen Convention Center.
Registration is $150 per team (maximum of four participants). It includes a free t-shirt and a free ticket to the Vipers' home opener on December 4 at 7:30 p.m. against the Tulsa 66ers at Dodge Arena for each player. A portion of the proceeds will benefit News Channel 5's Teach the Children.
The last day for registration is September 23.
The double-elimination tournament will feature 128 teams in eight divisions and eight champions. There will be four men's divisions and four women's divisions divided by age (9-12, 12-15, 15-18 and 18+).
The champions will receive tickets to the Rockets-Celtics game at Dodge Arena on October 7 and Vipers season tickets. The second place teams will receive Vipers half-season ticket packages while the third place teams will receive Vipers mini-season ticket packages.
It will be the first event of RGV Rocket Launch, a festival surrounding Houston Rockets Training Camp in the Rio Grande Valley.
