
21-Year-Old Trayce Thompson Promoted to Knights

(Fort Mill, SC) - Trayce Thompson, rated as the fourth-best prospect in the White Sox organization by Baseball America, has been promoted the Charlotte Knights from Double-A Birmingham today.
Thompson, 21, began the 2012 season with Single-A Winston-Salem and hit .254 with 22 home runs and 90 RBIs over 116 games. The 6'3" slugger also hit 28 doubles, five triples and had 18 stolen bases. He was name Carolina League Player of the Week on June 6.
On August 13, Thompson was promoted to Double-A Birmingham, where he posted a .280 batting average with three home runs and six RBIs in 14 games.
Entering the 2012 season, Thompson was tabbed by Baseball America as the Best Power Hitter in the White Sox system.
Thompson comes from a talented family. His father Mychal played 14 seasons in the NBA with Portland (1978-86), San Antonio (1986-87) and the Los Angeles Lakers (1987-91). Mychal was the first overall pick in the 1978 draft.
His brothers are also NBA players. His brother Klay is a member of the Golden State Warriors and his brother Mychel, played for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
