2019 Wheat Kings Training Camp Schedule Set

Brandon, MB. - Hockey returns to Westoba Place this week as the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings host their 2019 Training Camp.

The camp, which begins with Rookie Registration on Tuesday, August 27th, will continue through Sunday, September 1st when the Wheat Kings host their annual Black-White Intrasquad game, presented by Canad Inns Brandon. Forty prospects, including two dozen forwards and 12 defencemen are expected to attend Rookie Camp, which hits the ice first thing Wednesday morning, August 28th.

Among those in attendance will be the Wheat Kings three first round selections from this year's WHL Bantam Draft - forwards Nate Danielson of Red Deer, Tyson Zimmer of Russell and Rylan Roersma of Raymond, Alberta. Also in attendance will be Jake Chiasson of Abbotsford, B.C., who was Brandon's first round pick in the 2018 draft.

Main camp, featuring as many as eighteen returning veterans will kick off on Friday, August 30th with a number of rookie hopefuls invited to stay on for the weekend. All on ice sessions are open to the general public, with a minimal admission for Sunday's Intrasquad game.

The Wheat Kings will kick off their 4-game pre-season schedule against the visiting Winnipeg Ice on Friday, September 6th. Puck drop at 7:30pm.
