2016 Quakes Roster Announced

April 4, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced their minor league assignments and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes now have a preliminary roster, three days in advance of their home opener against Lake Elsinore on Thursday night.

Of the 25 players on the current roster, 14 of them earned a championship ring by playing in Rancho Cucamonga in 2015.

Returning to the Quakes to help make up what will undoubtedly be one of the strongest rotations in the Cal League will be right-handers Trevor Oaks, Josh Sborz and Brock Stewart.

Other arms to make their return to Rancho include right-handers Joe Broussard, Kyle Hooper, Karch Kowalczyk, Chris Powell and A.J. Vanegas. Lefty Luis De Paula, another returner from last year's club, is the only lefty in the pen to start the year.

Position players returning to the Quakes that were a part of last year's Championship-winning team include catcher Paul Hoenecke, infielder Tim Locastro and outfielders Joey Curletta, Kyle Garlick and Johan Mieses.

Former first-round pick Grant Holmes, rated by Baseball America as the Dodgers' sixth-best prospect in their system will also help to fill out the 2016 rotation. The Quakes will carry a total of three prospects that Baseball America considers to be ranked in the Dodgers Top-30, with Mieses at #12 and Sborz at #17.

The Quakes will have some additional buzz in the outfield, as 19-year-old Cuban prospect Yusniel Diaz will make his professional debut by beginning the year with the Quakes.

Other hurlers on this year's roster include right-handers Tommy Bergjans Scott Griggs and Bubby Rossman, all of which are California natives.

Catcher Julian Leon, infielders Michael Ahmed, Matt Beaty, Erick Mejia and Jordan Tarsovich, as well as Andrew Toles make up the remainder of the 25-man roster.

The Quakes will open defense of their California League Title on Thursday night, as they host the Lake Elsinore Storm at LoanMart Field.

Thursday night will feature a post-game Fireworks Celebration and 1,500 fans will take home a Quakes' Championship Replica Pennant, all thanks to American Career College. In addition, Opening Night is also a Thirsty Thursday, with $2 Pepsi products, $3 16-oz domestic drafts and $4 16-oz premium drafts, wine, champagne and margaritas. Everyone will also take home a 2016 Magnet Schedule, thanks to Allstar Kia. Gates open at 6:05pm and game time is 7:05pm.

Tickets are available for Thursday's opener by calling (909) 481-5000 and online at rcquakes.com. Season Ticket packages and group packages are also on sale now!
