Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - The 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game drops the puck at 4:05 p.m. local time tonight and will be carried live on Condors flagship station KGEO Hot Talk AM 1230. It's the second straight season KGEO has carried the annual ECHL event.
The 13th Annual ECHL All-Star Game will be held at the 7,215-seat Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. Handling the play-by-play for the game will be Tom Callahan of the Augusta Lynx, John Michael of the Johnstown Chiefs and Dan Weiss of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies.
The National Conference defeated the American Conference 10-9 last night in the Skills Competition from the Sovereign Center. Condors Connor James and Guy Dupuis participated in four events between the two of them for the National Conference. James finished second overall and first for the National Conference in the fastest skater competition, completing the course in 14.413 seconds. Pee Dee's Mark Mullen bested James with a time of 14.299. James, who is perfect on four shootout opportunities this season, failed to connect during the Breakaway Relay competition. He was denied by the American Conference's Nathan Marsters from Louisiana. Dupuis was stopped by Columbia's Mike Minard in the Breakaway Relay and finished eighth in the hardest shot competition with a speed of 87.1 mph. Complete results are listed below.
On Friday, January 28th, the Condors square off against the Long Beach Ice Dogs in a battle between first and second place teams in the overall standings. That night, the first 2,000 children 12 and under will receive a Connor James bobblehead doll, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and Carl's Jr. James joins G Kevin St. Pierre, D Quinn Fair, LW Paul Rosebush, RW Jamie Cooke, RW Jason Ralph and C (and current assistant coach) Paul Willett as Condors that have been turned into bobbleheads. James will be leaving after the game to join the Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League for his second call-up of the season.
