Gladiators Figure in All Star Game

January 26, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Brett Engelhardt tallied a goal while Jeff Campbell added an assist in the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All Star Game as they represented the Gladiators on Wednesday night but it wasn't enough to help the American Conference past the National Conference in a 6-2 American Conference loss in Reading, P.A.

Joe Tenute of South Carolina opened the scoring for the game with the first period's only goal for the American Conference half way through the first period.

Engelhardt tapped a pass from Campbell past Idaho and National Conference goalie Frank Doyle 3:45 into the second period but the American Conference could not hold on as the National Conference posted 6 unanswered goals for the win.

The first National Conference goal came 10 seconds after Engelhardt's tally off the stick of Brent Robinson of Trenton. The National Conference posted three goals before the end of the second period to take a 4-2 lead to the locker room and added two goals in the third period for the 6-2 win.

Jim Jackson, Gwinnett's other player representative finished the game without a point while Gladiators head coach Jeff Pyle also represented the Gladiators as a co-coach of the American Conference team.
