(Bakersfield, Calif., February 8, 2009) - In a game where both teams combined for 47 turnovers, the Colorado 14ers defeated the Bakersfield Jam by a score of 110-105.
Colorado raced out to a 13-point 1st quarter lead after starting off 6-for-9 from three point range in the game's first ten minutes. Bakersfield erased that deficit on a 3-poiner by Derrick Byars midway through the second quarter to take a 45-43 lead, capping off a 21-11 run in the first six minutes of the period en route to turning an 8-point deficit into a three point halftime lead. The 14ers took charge in the 3rd quarter and led the rest of the way with the Jam closing the gap at the end.
Bakersfield's Derrick Byers led all scorers with 26 rebounds while Terrance Thomas recorded a double-double with 18 points and 20 rebounds. Dominique Coleman led all Colorado scorers with 25 points with Billy Thomas contributing 24 points and Josh Davis recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Colorado improves to 18-7 while Bakersfield falls to 15-12 on the season.
The Jam travel to visit the Dakota Wizards on Tuesday, February 10th at 7:00pm.
