NBA D-LEAGUE ALL-STARS COMING TO PHOENIX
15 players with NBA experience highlight the two ten-man rosters of top prospects who will take to Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas for the third annual NBA D-League All-Star game on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2pm MT. The game, which features Will Conroy (Albuquerque), the league's leading scorer, along with NBA draft picks Chris Richard (Tulsa), James White (Anaheim), Luke Jackson (Idaho), Derrick Byars (Bakersfield) and Richard Hendrix (Dakota) will be coached by Austin's Quin Snyder and Iowa's Nick Nurse.
THE DREAM STARTS HERE
The second annual NBA D-League Dream Factory Friday Night returns to Center Court at Jam Session presented by adidas on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:15pm MT when the League's top sharp shooters and dunkers take to the court in the innovative skills challenge. Brent Petway (Idaho) will defend his 2008 Slam Dunk title against James "Flight" White (Anaheim), Patrick Ewing, Jr. (Reno) and Keith Clark (Tulsa) while Lance Allred (Idaho) returns to the H.O.R.S.E. competition to defend his title from last year against Bobby Jones (Sioux Falls), Erik Daniels (Erie) and Joe Crawford (Los Angeles). The action-packed evening is rounded off by a three-point shootout featuring 2008 NBA D-League Rookie of the Year Blake Ahearn (Dakota), Trey Johnson (Bakersfield, currently playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers), Ernest Scott (Rio Grande Valley) and Gary Forbes (Tulsa).
SATURDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Saturday's games
Gary Forbes had a game and season-high 36 points, as the Tulsa 66ers defeated the Idaho Stampede 110-106. Along with Forbes, Ryan Humphrey scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the 66ers, while Keith Clark added 12 points and nine boards.
Idaho had two players finishing with double-doubles, as Dwayne Jones had season-highs of 31 points and 16 rebounds, while Lance Allred put up 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Both Luke Jackson and Jamaal Tatum finished with 19 points each for the Stampede.
Each Wizards All-Star had a double-double on the night. Forward Richard Hendrix finished with 30 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Blake Ahearn poured in 32 while dishing 10 assists and guard Maurice Baker grabbed 14 rebounds and tallied 11 assists. Renaldo Major scored 19 points, including 13 in the third quarter. Off the bench, guard David Bell had 21 points for the Wizards.
Mad Ants forward Ron Howard continues scored a team high 31. Walker Russell Jr. recorded his 16th double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 assists.
Will Conroy, the league's co-player of the month, led both teams with 35 points as the Thunderbirds defeated the D-Fenders 107-97. Keith McLeod added 19 and David Noel and Jasper Johnson each scored 16.
The D-Fenders were led by Brandon Heath's 23 point effort. Joe Crawford had 18 points and Dwayne Mitchell added 10 rebounds.
James White led the Arsenal with 20 points while Ron Allen collected 13 points and 9 rebounds.
Terrance Thomas led Bakersfield with 25 points. Herbert Hill tallied a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds in his third game with the Jam.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: A look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games:
16 players with D-League experience competed in seven NBA games last night, four as starters.
Milwaukee's Ramon Session notched a double-double, recording a career high 44 points and dishing 12 assists.
As a starter for Houston, Rafer Alston finished with 22 points and six assists as the Rockets defeated the Timberwolves 107-90.
Jose Juan Barea scored 20 points for the Mavericks, as Dallas beat Chicago 115-114 in overtime.
