Flint Firebirds News Release

Flint, Mich. - After a record-setting 2023 NHL Draft for the Flint Firebirds, 12 current and former players were invited to NHL Development camps last week.

All four Firebirds selected in the 2023 NHL Draft were invited to their respective camps, and defenseman Blake Smith received an invite to the Boston Bruins camp. Additionally, Firebirds alum Luke Cavallin was invited to Toronto Maple Leafs camp for the second year in a row after a successful first season with the Newfoundland Growlers (ECHL).

NHL Development Camps are held by almost all 32 teams right after the NHL Draft to get a look at both their drafted and invited prospects while also helping the players hone their skills and learn from NHL staffs.

The Flint Firebirds return to action on Friday, September 29 at 7:07 p.m. against the Soo in the GFL Memorial Gardens. They return home the next day for the Home Opener against the Kitchener Rangers at 7:00 p.m.
