Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Loveland, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage pulled within a single goal late in the second period off a goal by Mark Wires but could not manage the game-tying goal during the final frame as they fell to the Colorado Eagles at the Budweiser Events Center, 3-2.
After suffering through two consecutive shutouts, the Rage re-found the back of the net when Dominic Noel scored his first of the year just 2:26 into the game on the power play. The Eagles would tie the game at 8:10 of the first when Ryan Tobler was credited with a deflection that eluded Rocky Mountain netminder David Guererra through traffic, sending the game to the second with the teams all square at a goal apiece.
The Eagles jumped in front during the middle frame behind a pair of goals by Ed McGrane. The first came at 4:27 followed by a goal off a penalty shot after McGrane was pulled down on a clean break-away by a Rage d-man at 10:13. Wires then made it a one goal hockey game with his fifth of the season just after a Rocky Mountain power play expired at 18:14 of the period.
In the third searching for the equalizer, the Rage had three power play opportunities and out-shot their opposition, 12-8, but could not put another puck past Colorado goaltender Marco Emond.
With the loss, the Rage drop to 3-8-2 on the season and are in fourth place in the Central Hockey League's Northwest Division with eight points.
The Rage and Eagles now complete their second home-and-home series in as many weekends when they battle one another tomorrow at the Broomfield Event Center at 7:05 p.m.
Tomorrow's tilt in Broomfield is "Run from Your Relatives Night," featuring a Family Four Pack for only $60. The Four Pack includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks, and four pretzels and can be expanded to accommodate additional tickets.
