The Hounds Have a New Voice

Youngstown, Ohio-Youngstown SteelHounds General Manager Joe Gregory announced today that the team will have a new voice for the remainder of the 2006-2007 season as Tim Sampsell takes over as the Hounds Manager of Broadcasting and Media Relations and as the new play-by-play broadcaster.

"We are very excited to have Tim join our team," said Gregory. "He has a lot of passion and enthusiasm for the sport of hockey and with his experience he will be a great addition to our front office."

The East Rochester, New York native comes to the Hounds from nearby Ithaca, New York where he was working with a with a weekly news publication. Sampsell has a bachelor in broadcasting and mass communications from Oswego State University of New York where he spent two years as the radio voice of Oswego Laker athletics which included hockey, basketball and sports talk programming.

Sampsell is very excited about this opportunity saying, "I have worked very hard for this and cannot wait to begin my dream profession."

The new "Voice of the SteelHounds" will also be handling all media relations for the team which includes hosting the weekly "Hounds Happy Hour" talk show from 7:00-8:00 PM on Monday nights on the home of the Hounds, ESPN Radio, AM 1240.

Sampsell begins his new position this weekend calling the last two legs of the six-game home stand against the Corpus Christi Rayz. All SteelHounds broadcasts are available on ESPN Radio-1240, The Fan and steelhounds.com.
